This post is to expand on research of a company I found on Second Life, and I chose Gibson Guitars.
After looking around, I found that Gibson utilizes social media quite a bit. This is understandable, considering the fact that their market is ageless and global, it is trying to capture younger guitar players to get them involved for life.
I first looked up YouTube, and found that Gibson has hundreds of videos that showcases artists who they've sponsored, who use their products, or instructional videos on their products. Here is an example of a famous guitar player showcasing Gibson's new auto-tuning Dark Fire guitar.

On MySpace, they are a prevalent force as well. As MySpace has already made a name for itself as the central hub for up-and-coming as well as underground bands, Gibson would be smart to have a presence on this site as much of their market spends lots of surfing time there. Here is Gibson's myspace page:

Finally, Gibson has a fan page with almost 20,000 members on Facebook, and a Twitter page entitled "Gibson Lifestyle" where a forum is posted and Gibson guitar owners can discuss the product openly.

Overall, Gibson is utilizing social media to its full extent, providing numerous user-friendly, informative and interactive pages for their customers to use.
