Social Marketing Week 7

This week, we had the chance to look at a Facebook group called "Facebook Marketing Solutions". After watching the videos and looking through some of the links on the group, I was able to get a good idea of this groups growing numbers and wider target with every new member and poster.

Gibson, the company I selected during week 2 to determine the number of social mediums it was a part of, was not a member of this site despite having a Facebook page of it's own already. This could mean that Gibson is either unaware of the group, or the nearly 200,000 members have not made mention of any of their products on the group's wall. I think it would be a good idea for Gibson to join Facebook Marketing Solutions, if not only for the publicity then to add to their already quite thorough presence in online social mediums.

To answer the question "how are brands reaching their target audience via facebook", the video "Facebook Ads" covers quite thoroughly how "just getting out there" has helped companies like "Papa Johns pizza" a simple pizza restaurant with many customers in the Facebook age demographic, can acquire hundreds of thousands of fans within 2 weeks of putting a page up. This increases loyalty by being able to quantify the transmission of your message through a social medium with numbers of fans. This is the main way brands can reach their target audience through Facebook.
